This project started its operation in 1987. Procure fuel supplies from the main suppliers which is Petronas Dagangan Berhad and Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn.Bhd.

The main objective of this project is to supply fuel to all fishermen via Area Fishermen Association in Peninsular, Sarawak and Labuan F.T.

In December 1997, the sales of duty free fuel was introduced and the feedbacks were encouraging. Since it was executed, this project had successfully provides lucrative returns to all fishermen in Malaysia. Returns in various avenues such as an increase in shares returns and dividens to its members.

On 1st January 2006, NEKMAT was given the responsibility to supply subsidized diesel for the fisheries sector by the goverment. In order for the subsidized diesel to reached the target group, NEKMAT had channelled the supply trough Area Fishermen Association (AFA) that serves as retail centres. A total of 53 AFA from 141 retail centres were involved. NEKMAT procured fuel supply from Petronas Dagangan Berhad, Shell Malaysia Trading Semenanjung, Syarikat Shell Trading Bhd, at Labuan F.T.and Sarawak, Boustead Petroleum Marketing Sdn.Bhd and Chevron Malaysia Sdn.Bhd.

This project had successfully prompt Malaysian fishermen to be a step closer to the goverment anticipation to eradicate poverty among members of fishermen.
