The Ice Factory Project was initially started in Chendering, Terengganu on April, 1987 through LKIM privatization program. It has production capacity of 220 tonne metric per day.

The second NEKMAT ice factory in Kuantan was acquired from LKIM in 2000 with output capacity of 145 tonne metric per day. The performance of the ice sales in Kuantan Ice Factory were quite promising and received favorably feedbacks from the fishermen.

The objective of this project is to supply ice directly to the deep sea and inshore fishermen.
